Alex Murdaugh New Trial Might Happen

Last March, Alex Murdaugh was sentenced to life in prison for the double murder of his wife Maggie and son, Paul, whose bodies were discovered shot to death on the Murdaugh’s estate. For those who need a refresher, Alex Murdaugh was a South Carolina legal scion whose family was well respected and prominent. Police had to perform a delicate, balancing act during their investigation until they gathered enough evidence to arrest Alex Murdaugh for the two murders.

In the course of the investigation, police discovered Alex Murdaugh was a dirty lawyer robbing the innocent blind. Most of them poor clients and he lined his pockets well. His financial crimes list is long and complicated. He was tried for many of those crimes and received a lengthy prison sentence.

His murder trial was wall to wall coverage. We covered it at length as well, you can read all about Alex Murdaugh here. After the trial was over, Alex went to jail, but his lawyers quickly filed a motion for retrial claiming the Colleton County Clerk of Court tempered with the jury as reported by News19

Last week, Judge Jean Toal set the rules of the new trial, allowing the defense team to question the twelve jurors involved in reading the sentence. Does that mean Alex Murdaugh might be granted a new trial?

It’s hard to predict based on the intel we have at the moment, but the possibility is strong and in his favor. It all dependence on what the juror testimony would be.

Whatever the outcome might be, the judge granted media access to the courtroom, which means the court proceedings will be televised. Tune in on January 29th and if you can’t, saved this post as we will keep you updated on the latest developments.
